田中麻記子 個展「sign/kehai」

鉛筆や水彩による平面作品、インスタレーションで記憶の断片を見つめ、様々なメディアで活動する田中麻記子の個展「sign/kehai」をご案内致します。田中の作品は、主に感情や想像世界の表現が中心ですが、感情「的」を装うスタイルや、根拠の無い主観的肯定に捕われていません。主題である気配を掴む為の執拗な描写により生まれた淡い表面は、田中自身の位置を表す心象地図とも言えるでしょう。画面一杯に広がる世界は、隅々まで描き切り、全てをさらけ出すことで創造する衝動＝熱を純粋に保てると語る田中の現在をありのままに写し出しています。本展では鉛筆画、版画のシリーズ作品に加え、初の発表となる油絵作品も展示。ありのままの日々を素直に受け入れた先に未知の風景が広がっていると信じる田中麻記子の新作展です。

私の作品に出てくる小さなパーツ達（花、女性、たこ、団子など）に特別な意味はありません。それらは集合によって醸し出される”気配”のための原材料のようなものです。
私は、その”気配”という抽象的な空気感の中で、言葉ではない、楽しみや悲しみのコミュニケーションが生々しく行われるのだと思います。これは「絵画」ですが、「音楽」のように体感して欲しいと思っています。
Makiko Tanaka "sign/kehai"

We are pleased to announce the exhibition “sign/kehai”, with new works of Makiko Tanaka, an artist who actively works on a variety of media, such as pencil drawing, water color and installation. Although expression of her imaginative world and emotional description are main concern of her work, she avoids easy “expressive style” and justification of her subjectivity. Her fleeting, but considerably detailed drawing symbolizes her attempt to grab “the sign of existence=kehai”, and it plays the role as a conceptual map of herself. Essences on canvas tell you things about Tanaka, who wants to spread everything on canvas to keep her art pure. In this exhibition, she shows prints and oil paints as well as pencil drawings. Tanaka believes we need to accept the daily life first to witness the unknown landscape we’ve never seen before.
