マルテス・バトリ個展「LOVEBUD」2007年5月17日(火)〜2007年6月10日(日)

フランス人アーティスト、マルテス・バトリ個展「Lovebud」 本展覧会のタイトル「Lovebud」は、オーソン・ウェルズの名作「市民ケーン」のラストシーンで、彼が死ぬ時に手に握っていたrosebud（バラのつぼみ）に由来しています。制作を通じて自らを探求するマルテスは、自分自身を「アートの中の旅行者」と呼び、世界中を旅することで感じたもう二度と体験することの無いすばらしい（もしくは最悪な）瞬間を「旅行者が建物や人々の写真を撮るように」作品として表現しています。「市民ケーン」で、ケーンの人生で最も象徴的な瞬間を印象付けたrosebudは、自己の作品たちを人生の象徴的瞬間の記録とするマルテスにより「Lovebud」として本展にて表現されます。 1980年代後半より、彫刻家、製図技師、コミック作者として活躍してきたマルテスは、近年、ペインティングによる都市風景を制作しています。本展覧会ではセラミックによる彫刻作品に加え、日本国内では未発表の大型ペインティング作品を紹介。

Martes Bathori exhibition "LOVEBUD"
2007/5/17(thu) - 2007/6/10(sun) A French artist, Martes Bathori’s solo exhibition "LOVEBUD" The title of this exhibition, Lovebud is from the rosebud held in Kene’s hand when he dies at the last scene in Orson Welles' Citizen Kane. In search of himself through his creative activities, Martes calls himself a pilgrim in the world of art. Through his pilgrimage, he captures the moments of wonder or worst in his modelings, like a traveler takes snapshots of peoples and buildings. Lovebud is a summary of those symbolized moments of life, just like the rosebud in the film “Citizen Kane”, impressed the most symbolic moment in Kene’s life, consolidated by Martes. Martes has been active sculptor, drafter, comic writer since late '80s. He lately concentrates on urbanscape paintings. In this exhibition, as well as ceramic sculptures, he prevails his large paintings for the first time in Japan. His work includes many other collaboration projects and publications.
