岩井 賢一 個展　「Sparks,」2007.7.12(thu)〜2007.8.5(sun)

写真家岩井賢一の個展「Sparks,」開催をご案内致します。 1980年代後半からフリーランスフォトグラファーとして活動を始めた岩井は、世界各国での様々な出会いと、1998年から４年間に及ぶニューヨークでの活動を経て、独自の世界観を確立しています。 「溢れる程の自由感と強さ、優しさを感じとる」写真家、半沢克夫氏との出会いにより写真での表現を志した岩井は、その後の交流の中で、今も脳裏から離れないという氏の言葉に出会います。 「絵描きにとっての絵の具、写真家にとっての光。」 岩井はそこに「Sparks,」シリーズの原初を感じ取りました。 毎日当たり前の様に視界に入ってくる風景。昼も夜も、そこには必ず光が存在する。光の世界に興味を持ち、ただただ眺めるうちに、「光」をもっと知りたくなったと語る岩井賢一による最新作「Sparks,」シリーズ、どうぞご高覧ください。 Sparks, 時と言う空間に描く行為から始まった創造の旅。 一瞬にして現れ消え去ってゆく火の粉が放つ光に宇宙を感じた、儚さ故の美しさ。 思い、願い、祈りそして胸に描かれる華やかな夢。 時空間に描いたドキュメントにして光のドラマ。

Kenichi Iwai Solo Exhibition "Sparks" Freelance photographer since late 1980, Iwai established his own vision through traveling around the world and his 4 year residency in New York from 1988. Encounter with his mentor photographer Katsuo Hanzawa who has an outstanding capacity of "expressing overflowing sense of freedom and gentleness" pushed him to pursue his career in photography. The mentor's words "Color paints to painters, lights to photographers" sank deep in his mind. His "Sparks" originated right from there. Daily visions you accept just naturally, there lights always exist day or night. Interested in the world of lights, he devote himself to know more about lights. I felt the universe, thoughts, hopes, prayers and dreams in fleeting light of fireworks, which has ephemeral beauty. A document in a space-time, a drama of light.
